E. Gary Gygax, co-creator af Dungeons and Dragons, and father of role-playing games as we know them, has passed on to the Outer Planes.

My sympathies to his family. We have all been playing on his lawn for these many years.

Some of my earlier memories were the Dungeons and Dragons cartoons...silly, but they were my lead up into my love of fantasy literature, and eventually, gaming.

Makes me want to have a memorial game - in fact Mark has a lot of the old original D&D stuff...

Yeah, I started playing Basic Set (blue box) around March of 1977 and bought the first edition AD&D Players Handbook when it was first released. Not that I've really done any gaming in the last 10-15 years, but 30 years ago, man, that was the stuff.

The man shaped a great many parts of my life. (Both my waking and sleeping life, actually.) I think it's a testament to him that for many of us he won't be missed. Unlike many authors and artists we will all always see his worlds as living and vital, despite him not being there with us.

I haven't played regularly since HS, and haven't played at all in ages, but still... if I had a Rod of Resurrection, I'd definitely burn a charge for him!
