A toast, then, to those who have braved the Void beyond the sky, And most especially to those whose travels there or back Became a one-way voyage to the greater Void beyond the Veil Where fire and the Breathstealer alike both fear to tread.

I was shocked that this was the first year I ever knew that the news programs did not memorialize the Challenger Seven. One of my earliest memories is of watching the Challenger's final flight. Having watched Star Wars, I knew what an "escape pod" was; I didn't know that the Shuttle had been deliberately designed without one, and so watched every bit of debris trying to find it.
And of course, we light a candle for the Columbia Seven, whom we lost on Candlemas Eve. That happened pretty much over your head, in fact. We have learned nothing and forgotten nothing.

Amen, and amen, and so mote it be.
