And a Thing Made of Awesome and Win
Jul. 13th, 2007 02:54 pmToday's xkcd.
It's not really funny, although I suspect it is to anyone who doesn't do that. It's just . . . touching, for multiple levels of meaning of the word.
After reading an awful lot of stuff these past few days that is either explicitly anti-sex, or about other topics but with very strong possible anti-sex connotations, this is actually quite a relief.
(Left unfiltered to share the love)

Date: 2007-07-14 05:30 am (UTC)For a less obvious example, that guy in Florida who was trying to get laws cracking down on people convicted of prostitution and other minor sex crimes, while getting his own jollies for a double sawbuck in the men's room. If everyone could just take a deep breath and calm down about man-on-man action, maybe guys like that wouldn't feel the need to force it on the rest of the populace either way.
Or, for a very convoluted example, there's been a lot on my friendslist about rape and rape prevention. Obviously, rape is a crime against humans, and 99.94% of the time a crime against women. And 99% of the time, it's a terrorist act, too - not only a crime against one woman, but a crime of power meant specifically to put women in their place and keep them there. But 100% of the time, and this is something that a lot of people justifiably miss because the above statement are more important, it's a crime against Eros. Every time someone is wounded sexually that way, Eros dies a little more. Every time a woman spends the rest of her life with that wound, the cause of sex itself - sex for pleasure, sex as human bonding, sex as emotional release - is set back.
