Normally, I'm not big on the whole holiday thing, but I was remarkably into Halloween this year; maybe I can continue the energy into Yule.

Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and lj-related ("I'd love a knitting/buddhism icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not icons, etc), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not — it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. I don't have a general TV/Film icon, and all my own efforts at making such have failed miserably. It would be cool if such a thing referenced at least one or two of the films But I'm a Cheerleader, LotR, The Last Starfighter, Pleasantville, and/or Tron, and at least one or two of the TV shows ST:tNG, Misfits of Science, Firefly, Doctor Who, Max Headroom, and/or Eureka.

2. I need a truly kickass pecan pie recipe. It doesn't particularly matter whether it's a buttermilk type or a Karo type, but it does need to be the sort that has chopped pecans in the filling and whole pecan halves on the top.

3. My mother used to make a cake that was two layers of a white sponge cake with a strawberry pie-type filling, solid enough not to ooze when the cake was cut, and frosted with whipped cream. Unfortunately, her version uses Jell-o. If anyone has a recipe for a similar thing that would be vegetarian-friendly and would be willing to share, I'd be very happy.

4. I have been looking for a Sarasvati statuette for about a year, and have not been able to find one on which Her features are clearly visible. If anyone happened to have one they weren't using, I'd gladly take it off their hands; failing that, some leads on where I could get one would be nice.

5. Similarly, I have a small mask-type Greenman image (about 6 inches long and not quite as wide) that is supposed to go over my altar. It's currently not hanging up because I feel vaguely uncomfortable putting it up without a matching feminine image. For me, the appropriate goddess would be Yemaya, or an Ocean-Mother of some sort.

6. I'm looking for tea recommendations. Right now, I have a good "base stock" of teas that I know and like, and a few experiments. I'm interested in branching out into more serious experiments. In particular, I know most Indian blacks quite well, but I'm not as familiar with Chinese or Sri Lankan teas, and I'm not nearly as schooled in the greens as I would like. So if you have a particular favorite, or went out on a limb yourself recently and liked it, I'd love to hear about it.

7. I want a regular FTF gaming group again. Something that met about once a month on a Friday or Saturday would be ideal. I can tolerate Tolkienesque fantasy, Star Wars, or steampunk, but I'd prefer modern fantasy (Bureau 13 forever!), non-traditional fantasy (like Jorune or Talislanta), space opera, or a world-hopper like the default GURPS setting or Fringeworthy. I'd like to GM, or to share GMing responsibilities, but I'll settle for just playing if necessary.

8. When I was very young - two or three - my parents both got custom-made leather-soled and -strapped sandals from a cobbler near the college they both were doctoral students at. They got a pair made for me, too, which I of course soon outgrew. They went back to the same town when I was five and a half, and had another pair made for myself (and for them). The last pair - my father's second pair, which he stopped using and gave to my mother when her second pair finally fell apart - lasted until just before I left for college myself. If anyone knows of a cobbler who might be willing and able to reproduce the sandals from a description, I'd gladly pay a fortune to get another pair.

9. There is not enough smutty fanfic with my favorite crack (or even non-crack) pairings out there. If anyone felt inspired to write a strong R or NC-17 of: legal-aged Eriol/Yamazaki (CCS), Doctor/Doctor (Doctor Who), Neville/Percy (HP), Book/Inara (Firefly), or Fargo/Anybody (Eureka), I'd gladly devour it.

10. Eureka fanart. Funny, erotic, guys-and-gals-with-gadgets, or simply character studies. There just doesn't seem to be much out there. (I'd also take StarCon II fanart, if anyone happened to be interested in that.)
