So I just had a Tohru moment . . .

I logged into my Earthlink web account to delete everything that got thrown into my virus folder, because I had never gotten around to setting it to "delete immediately." While I was doing that, I discovered that I'd never turned my spam-filter on either.

Oooops!

No wonder all that crap was "getting past it" . . .

I fixed it, but now I feel really blonde . . .

At least I no longer have a reason to consider Gmail.

You should see a real difference in your spam levels now. Earthlink's spam-blocker service gets about 80% of mine, and my individual filters (installed and maintained by Russ) get most of the rest.

Russ says that you really do NOT want to engage the "challenge-and-response" spam-filter in Earthlink, so you might want to check and make sure you haven't done that. But the basic Spaminator service is terrific.

No, this was the "medium" level protection - and yes, I've gone from about 200 messages per day (most of them spam) to 40-50 (about half things I'm on elists for, and about half the more interesting spam).

Off-topic: I'm off work all this week, and I recently broke one of my silver pendant chains in a way I don't have the tools to fix. I've needed to catch up with you anyway, and you're the person I know who's most likely to either know how to fix it, or be able to sell me a replacement. Got any free time lying around?
