Need More Book Clubs! Quick!
Oct. 28th, 2004 07:18 pmThe 1984 book club went far, far better than I had any right to hope. I had signed up mostly because I wanted to hear what Mr. N had to say about it, but the level of discourse was reasonably high all around. The teachers talked a lot more than the students, but they participated reasonably.
Mrs. C., one of our two librarians, totally rocks my world. She protested the Viet Nam war back in the 60's and got "interviewed" by the FBI. I had never known that before, and possibly never would have if I hadn't gone to this thing.
I'm trying to talk her into doing one for The DaVinci Code next . . .
