Post-Con Letdown
Feb. 13th, 2006 09:07 pmI definately got dehydrated on Saturday night/Sunday morning - I have a migraine to show for it, even though I drank much Gatorade to try to make up for it late Sunday. The sleep cycle disruption probably didn't help either.
Still wouldn't trade it for the world. I just wish there were a local gaming con other than Owlcon - I'd love to do this two or three times a year. Hell, I want a functioning gaming group again. The primary thing I'm always struck with after a con is how little gaming I get to do during the rest of the year, and even with Apollocon coming up in the summer, the fact makes me very sad. Especially since a lot of the people I'd like to game with are out-of-town, and the miniscule experience I've had with PBEM systems leads me to suspect I'd not enjoy them very much, either. (I could be wrong on that, and if I found one with an opening in a genre Iliked, I'd be willing to test the hypothesis.)
I also wish there were non-White Wolf LARPs that happened on a more frequent basis. (That reminds me; I should sign up for the mailing list.) I really got a serious charge out of the old Rice LARPs, despite finding them exhausting and not being much for the gothic-punk genre.
If anyone, in particular the locals, has concrete suggestions as to how I can facilitate this, please let me know. I'm willing to sink time and some money into having a gaming life again (yet another reason to find a closer school; it'd make doing evening events less stressful).
