Do I Have to do Everything Myself?

omorkaSo the Ramton master schedule managed to put our only class of AP Calculus BC as a double-blocked slot in 4A/B, and our only class of AP Physics C in 4A.
Suck. Moreover, stupid. Is it NOT OBVIOUS that the same group of kids will want to take both classes?
The CP and the two APIs showed a clip from Stand and Deliver as part of their presentation this morning, so I jumped on the opportunity and called my API on the conflict. She said she'd see if anything could be done.
The bookroom gave me the wrong set of calculators (livable) and an overhead calculator that doesn't match (not livable, but perhaps sufficient motivation for me to buy myself my own overhead calculator).
Later in the day, someone suggested that perhaps the kids who were bumped could take one class or the other at Bearville. However, we'd need to see the Bearville master schedule to find out, and that wasn't something anyone would have any chance of doing until late in the week at the earliest.
Meanwhile, I'd been locked out of my Bearville gradebook. The guy from MIS (different one) finally called me back, and I got him to fix the issue. When I got logged in, I discovered that they'd listed the two sections of AP Stats as 3A and 4A, rather than 4A and 3B. *growl* So I stared at the three Bearville phone numbers I had and guessed which one belonged to their math API.
Right in one! Of course, he's not in his office, but at least his secretary took my number. While waiting for him to call me back, I realized that if all of the Bearville Stats kids make it through the schedule correction, we're going to be short 4 or 5 textbooks - and Bearville doesn't have any. *ripping hair out at this point*
He called me back, and said he'd correct the section immediately and have the counselors move the students out of the bogus section in the morning. Okay. Meanwhile, I have a brilliant thought: I can pull up the schedules of the Bearville kids from their gradebook page. What are the odds of at least one of them being in Calc BC?
Pretty good, in fact. Two were - both in a 5A/B double-blocked class! That won't solve the problem for all of the kids who were affected, but I bet it will solve it for two of them. Now I need to get hold of them to tell them!
As I left, I discovered that my knitting bag was missing. I thought I might have left it in the car, but no dice. I think I've figured out where it is, but there's no way I could have gotten into there after 3 o'clock - and if it's not there, I have no fucking clue where it might have gone. *rip, shred*
And finally, as a last straw, I discovered as we were driving home that I'd forgotten to recharge my phone and it wouldn't even turn on.
On the bright side, I cast off the shawl last night - all I have to do now is the crochet edging and weave in the ends (of course, my yarn needles are in the bag, but at least the crochet hook is not). And I have a syllabus for Precal, and a first semester syllabus for Stats (and I'll have enough time tomorrow to finish the second semester, unless something goes weird). And my room mostly works.

Date: 2004-08-14 05:39 pm (UTC)I don't know that for sure about the two freshly-minted counselors, but nothing I've heard so far from down there leads me to believe they have a clue either.
As for the principals, at least one of them should know better, but all the rest come from language arts, social studies, phys ed, or foreign language. They creep away and itch when I talk heavy math at them. (I don't know how they're going to take to the data team . . .)
