omorkaI hate getting up this early in the morning. In less than a month, I have to get up even earlier. Groan! On the other hand, CF and RS from the old RUSMP group are there - RS is in the AP Statistics class with me, and CF is in the AP Calculus BC class. I might give them a quick version of the weird stuff tour if they have the time for it on Friday. The master teacher isn't as much of a goofball as last years', which means it doesn't go as fast, but we got quite a bit of useful work done just today. They also gave us tons of books. I'm only exaggerating a little - we got sample copies of 4 different textbooks, and these aren't tiny ones, either. This is in addition to the AP packet and the course notebook, which isn't small, either. And, we may be getting a fifth textbook before the end of the week.
Of course, RS pointed out - here we are, together again, and once again a tropical storm is bearing down on us. Drat the luck!
In other news, DM did manage to show up for Bagels yesterday, as did the Raven and PB (although they were both late!), along with Scary R. R and the Spouse went on and on about anime (again) - I'm sure they're repeating stories to each other now. OTOH, our end of the table had a fairly interesting if disjointed conversation about a number of different topics, including DM's not having read the Harry Potter books yet (sacrilege! Hmm, since PB won't let me read them to him, maybe DM would take up that offer) due to a lack of time. He might make either the Swan or Movie Night or both, but can't promise either, depending on his rehearsal schedule. I told him he needs to bring AH with him.
Speaking of a lack of time, I'm going to be in serious negative time once school starts. I'm going to have to find some way of blocking out mandatory social time for myself or I'm going to go completely black-hole with the two new preps. The calendar is my friend . . . if I just schedule myself for the Black Swan every Wednesday and Bagels every Sunday no matter what, and carefully parcel out my time for Mu Alpha Theta (none of this no Saturdays for a month; I'm going to keep NC and the Other PB in the loop whether they want to be or not), I should be able to stay sane. Fridays will happen, or not, as catch can, and I think I can manage to be alive most Saturdays. I'll have to remind myself to seek out social interaction, though - if I don't, I'll be in danger of pulling into my shell by default. Last year had to happen the way it did, and I don't regret it - it paid off a hundredfold - but I don't want to do that again, ever.
I have served my apprenticeship, with distinction. Now begins the Journey . . .
