The Midsummer That Doesn't Suck didn't suck, despite all the rain. (Hey, I survived SamRain, I can handle scattered showers.) I ended up playing Cognitive Coach/Professional Educator/Counselor-at-Large a couple of times to different people . . . we'll see if anything comes of that. We did some really good singing, although not enough. I bounced the Acronym fundraiser idea off of a few people, and I should hit the lists with it soon. (I also sort of volunteered to do a ritual at this next Samhain - I hope that pans out, because it'd be a really cool idea if we can get it to work.) I shooed off a steer and apparently impressed some city slickers. The Evil Genius workshop was great fun, and I learned a few things about a number of people - both those present and those not.

Having said that, I did not get any Princess Points, only a few people ate my chocolate pound cake, and I got smoked out worse than I have at any event since the Beltane at which Moontyger and I both got so sick. Why do such intelligent and interesting people insist on shortening their lifespans and polluting my air? I'm sorely tempted to get Instant Attitudes to make me a button that says "If you smoke next to me without warning, I will vomit without warning." I wonder how many people's shoes I'll have to puke on before they get the hint?

And, it would have been nice to have a real ritual, although the unfocused energy-around-the-bonfire was pretty nice. I understand why the people who put these on don't want a rigid schedule or plan anything too tightly, but it would be nice to have just a message board - something where we could post "Anyone interested in chanting, show up here at about 5:00" or stuff like that - so those of us who do like a little structure could find each other and do something. They don't have to join or anything. (Maybe I'll bring a cheap corkboard to the next one and do that myself. The nice thing about being a bit OCD is that it does motivate one to fix things . . . )

Off to sleep off the secondhand-smoke headache and the carbonation stomachache . . .
