One Week

The Letter came in Saturday, although I didn't get to read it until yesterday. Our coordinating principal has officially summoned us back to work for next Tuesday. I'm so not ready; I'm going to spend that week running around like a chicken with my head cut off. The only thing I've done that's school-related since June is play with the CBR (which is still the coolest thing in the world). In some ways, I feel like I'm more prepared for Algebra II than I am for Geometry. But I am confident that this year will, at least, be better than last year.

I know I'm getting paid more this year, but I don't know how much. I know that the State of Texas picks up our health insurance this year, but that means we're changing providers again. And I have absolutely no desire to fool with yet another pile of financial paperwork. I also don't know how much being a union member is going to cost this year. If I'm lucky, my take-home might break even.

Since I know I'm going to have to roll back to the world's worst wake-up time very shortly, I'm trying to nudge my sleep cycle back around to it. Right now, that means I went to sleep at 5 pm and woke up at 3 am. It's probably going to swing around to what's honestly natural for me - sleep at 2 am, get up at 11 am - and then back again to sleeping at 10 pm and waking at (*groan*) 5:30 am by Tuesday. Fun with circadian rhythms, boys and girls!

We haven't seen DG all week, between him having to work late and the Spouse being tired. I'm hoping he'll be interested in doing a showing of the last tape of Kodomo no Omacha tonight; I'd like to see him, and interested in where the story goes from here.

The Spouse did eventually get the VCR to play nicely with the new amp. I got the radio stations that suck the least programmed into the tuner (and was surprised that there were actually ten stations worth programming). Now the Spouse wants to get a subwoofer to complete the surround system. I told him to go ahead, in the understanding that he can't buy anything else for a while. Really, he's over budget as is, but we can afford it right now.

I actually made it to Bagels this week, too. The only ones to show up other than me and the Spouse were the Raven and R., and then later M. (not the same one as last week). The Spouse told the story of his co-worker who is deathly afraid someone will think he's gay; he's got the gestures down pat at this point. We talked quite a bit about CMA and what's going on in the organization. Mostly it's the usual growing pains; some of it was about the cliquish weirdness that had sprung up among the Land Crew. None of it is fatal, or even serious, but it's going to be painful to deal with; he's one of the few people who could stand up and say the things that need to be said and actually be heard. Litch is another, but he hasn't been speaking as much lately, at least not in forums I hear about. Tequilarose is too close to it all to see the problems, I think, but if they're shown to her she'll be rational about them.

It looks like Blue Crescent is actually holding Lammas, and like I'll be hostessing. That should be fun. I think that's going to end up just being Rasputin, Keyne, and me for a while, but as far as I'm converned, that'll give us the opportunity to do some serious work. If Keyne's up for it, that is; she keeps having to deal with incredible amounts of shit that are not of her own doing, lately.

I posted some Lammas bread recipies to PaganCookery. I don't know if they'll get any sort of a reaction or not. We'll see, I guess.
