I've spent this last week getting ready for school. I hate getting up at 5:30 am. I'm not ready yet, although I'm decently ready for tomorrow, I think. I've been crashing at 8 pm just to get enough sleep to handle the next day - I'd really rather not do that. It's hell on my social life.

Getting my necessary materials has been a chore and a half. I still don't have an Alg. II teacher's edition of my own; I'm using RR's. I finally got the supplementary teacher's materials on Friday. Fortunately my Geometry stuff is on track.

I'm one of the Geometry team co-leaders for this year; the other is LL. Between the two of us, I think we'll do okay; I have energy and she has experience. LI is being a pain in the butt - he refuses, absolutely refuses, to think in terms of thematic units - for him it's all chapter and section. I'm not sure whether to blame Christianity and it's book-focussed-ness, his by-the-book Army experience, or just his general cussedness. But everyone else seems to see the value of being flexible, at least. Maybe by the end of the year we'll get student-focused.

Dr. R (our coordinating principal) had the annual faculty back-to-school party at her house this Friday. I went, and talked DM into going. I hate these things - I feel like a wallflower - but I do enjoy getting to talk with the authority figures as human beings, so I go anyway. I did get to watch one of the APIs (not mine) lead the faculty in the Harlem shuffle, and one of the APs tried to push another one into the pool. Also, TB mentioned that a relative of her is teaching in Mississippi, where they now have a mandated pass-to-graduate test in US History with no stated guidelines or objectives. Par for the course for Mississippi, I guess, but it bothers me knowing Brother #2 is going to have to take this thing, as is Little Sister if she goes to the alma mater.

We had dinner with MW and JT Friday evening at House of Guys. I never enjoy the food there, but the other alternative seems to be IHOP, and it's not much better. We also went by the Borders across from the Whole Foods from Hel; I found Klein's _The Bisexual Option_, which I'm reading (I finished _Bi Any Other Name_, which I quite enjoyed), and the Spouse found some manga.

DG brought over the next four episodes of _Kodomo no Omacha_ yesterday. One of them wasn't much fun, but I enjoyed the other three quite a bit. It's annoying that they're only coming out in batches of four, though. I know fansubs take time and all, but this is irritating.

Ah, well. It's 10 pm, and I should get some sleep. Into the breach once more . . .
