X-rays successful
Despite it taking longer than I expected to pack my kiddos up and move them to the other classroom, I managed to get to the radiology center before 4 PM. I then proceeded to sign in and then sit there for most of an hour before the radiology tech realized I was there; the receptionist had to phone back there to get her to come out & collect me. Once she did, though, it went pretty swiftly.
Meanwhile, I had just gotten back my lab results from the stick two days ago. My uric acid levels are elevated again, so I'm going back on medication for the gout - a different one, more expensive than the previous one, but hopefully it won't cause hair loss like the allopurinol did. My white blood cell count was also elevated; everything else (including my blood sugar, phew) was normal. Elevated white blood cell count would also be consistent with gouty inflammation, so right now the doctor is guessing that's what's causing the swollen ankle.
I actually got a chart notification for the back x-ray this evening, although there are no notes on it from the doctor I saw on Tuesday. Apparently I have mild scoliosis (which shouldn't be causing the back pain), evidence of osteoarthritis in my mid- to lower spine (which could), and possible bone spurs at the lower-mid-back (which definitely could). Yikes. On the bright side, the anti-inflammatories I'm taking for the gouty arthritis should also help with osteoarthritis, so probably no new meds? And it doesn't look like it's a damaged disk, which is what I was worried about.
