Finally gave in and braved my insurer's website to make a doctor's appointment for my swollen ankle and the back problems I've been having. Wish me luck that I get something other than "just lose weight and everything will be fine".

Go in with an idea of what tests or treatment you think might help, and if the doctor denies it require that the denial be documented.
